The evaluation in the Pre-University program is continuous and is divided into three cut-off points. These evaluations will be processed and recorded in the system, generating a total of three grades. The first cut-off represents 30%, the second cut-off contributes another 30%, while the third cut-off has a value of 40% in the overall evaluation.
How are the results of the evaluations scored?
The results of the evaluations are graded quantitatively on a scale of 0.0 to 5.0, where the minimum passing grade is 3.0. This ensures that students demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of the content and skills assessed.

The responsible teacher must communicate the results of the evaluations to the students before entering them into the advanced management academic system (AMS). This allows for direct feedback, ensuring that students understand their performance and can actively participate in their learning process.
In order to pass the Pre-University program, it is necessary to obtain a cumulative grade point average equal to or higher than four point zero (4.0). This grade guarantees that the participants have reached a satisfactory level of knowledge and skills necessary for their academic and vocational preparation.
The admission process to undergraduate programs through the Pre-university at the University of La Guajira operates as follows:
- Whoever completes and passes the Pre-university with a cumulative average equal to or higher than 4.0 has the opportunity to enter an undergraduate academic program offered by the university. For this, the student must enroll in the corresponding period and on the dates established by the institution.
- The admissions committee determines the number of places available for admission through this route on a semesterly basis, based on the projected number of groups for the university's undergraduate programs.
- The pre-university admission process is carried out directly at the faculty where the student studied and approved the program. If the student decides to enroll in a program of a different faculty, his admission will be governed by the criteria of the regular admission process.
The approval of the Pre-university to enter as an admitted student is valid for two academic periods or one year.
The University reserves the right to offer pre-university programs for the programs attached to the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, or other programs that the institution considers according to the policies expressed in the basic documents.
At the time of enrollment in the Pre-University program, the programs that can be accessed through this strategy will be specified.
In the event that a student accumulates class absences that exceed twenty percent (20%) of the classes developed in a subject, the student will be automatically assigned a grade of zero point zero (0.0) in that subject. Regular class attendance is essential to ensure successful academic performance.
