For the University of La Guajira it is of vital importance to maintain a synergy between the different sectors of society, its processes and its context; that is why we widely understand that Extension allows us to integrate and interact towards a permanent dialogue with the environment and contribute to the exchange of knowledge, the construction of applied knowledge and the promotion of integrative practices of the academic community, civil society, the private sector and public organizations.
The function of Extension at the University of La Guajira proposes a unified sense from the interdisciplinary in the various modalities and axes of action; with a broad portfolio of services of the institutional offer, adjustable to the specific needs required by the community, because we recognize the challenges of cultural diversity, promoting the development of social projection with the constant articulation of research and teaching as missionary axes.
Extension is a Missional process certified in quality by INCONTEC ISO 9001 Standard (February 2014). In this sense, we work with the different modalities or fields of Extension, to respond to the needs and demands of the environment, in a competitive manner, forging concrete and measurable progress, against the development objectives of the region.
Our Mission
Extension at the University of La Guajira seeks to promote and maintain the relationship between the University and its socioeconomic and cultural environment. Culture integrates the arts, literature, science, technology, daily practices, institutional forms, and symbolic and imaginary practices. It is linked to the social and productive reality of the region and the country in a multidirectional relationship in which it identifies the problems in the environment, offering alternatives that contribute to the economic, social, cultural, scientific, technological and artistic development of the region and the country, testing the validity of knowledge and learning, generating a process of permanent feedback.

¿Qué es el Address of Extension?
La Address of Extension y Proyección Social of the University of La Guajira, es una unidad académica adscrita a la Vice Rector's Office for Research and Extension que se organiza internamente con la permanente comunicación y comunicación de otras unidades académicas, Academic Vice-Rectory, Vice Rectory Financiera, y la Rectory, para dar respuesta a los retos y desafíos del entorno: económico, técnico, tecnológicos ambiental y sociocultural en lo que está inmersa la Universidad, responde además por la venta de servicios académicos, la oferta del program of Continuing Educationda and the manejo de Project de Extension Culturel y Comunitaria.

Purposes
- To promote scenarios that allow the dialogue, integration and interaction of the University with the external sector, with the purpose of social responsibility and relevance, as a contribution to the understanding and solution of the problems of the region and the country.
- Support the development of the institutional mission in the promotion, coordination and dissemination of the different events that arise from the process of training, qualification and updating of professionals, non-professionals, employees and the community in general.
- Strengthen the process of integral formation of the community, both in the academic, professional and personal fields, through different activities offered by the University of La Guajira in Continuing Education and Academic Practices.
- To achieve the interaction of the University with the community in a two-way exercise that allows the encounter of knowledge and the construction of knowledge.
- Support academic units by analyzing and making feasible non-formal education projects.
- Promote the establishment of inter-institutional agreements to support entrepreneurial efforts.

Programa Uniguajira construye
Desde el Extension and Social Projection Center of the University of the Guajira tenemos como uno de nuestros objetivos contribuir a entender o brindar soluciones a las problemáticas que atañen a nuestro entorno, para el bienestar de toda la comunidad. Es así como a través de la proyección social en articulación con entidades públicas y/o privadas, desarrollamos actividades y proyectos que coadyuven a lograr este objetivo and the beneficio social.
En este momento nos encontramos liderando el programa Uniguajira Construye en el que buscamos crear espacios de interacción con diferentes actores sociales en temas de interés regional, así como lo relacionado a los avances investigativos and the impacto de la proyección social de la institución, con el objetivo de construir diálogos que ayuden al desarrollo de la región.
Con esto se pretende dar más visibilidad a los logros de la Universidad que son temas de interés para la comunidad, mostrar al público en general lo que la universidad viene desarrollando en investigación y extensión, como la principal alma mater del departamento de La Guajira, logrando además una mayor apropiación social y circulación del conocimiento.

Specific Objectives
- Propiciar espacios de interacción universidad – entorno que sirvan de reflexión y visibilización de los resultados y avances investigativos de la institución, impacto de los proyectos de extensión o temas de interés.
- Socializar las actividades y/o proyectos que se realizan desde las unidades académicas por medio de su difusión en los canales institucionales (canal de YouTube, redes sociales(promoción) y emisora institucional).
- Implementar nuevas alternativas para socializar los avances en Proyección Social de la institución.
