The radio station Uniguajira Stereo was born as a communication channel between the institution and the citizens for the dissemination of science, education and technology, as part of the fulfillment of the vision of the Alma Mater to generate from higher education a real transformation in the Department of La Guajira.
Thus, in 2012, steps were taken to achieve this objective, resulting in the first resolution (003382 of December 17, 2012) issued by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies, which declared the viability of the request submitted by the Alma Mater.
10 months later, on October 29, 2013 the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications by Resolution 0004158 of October 29, 2013 granted by license to the University of La Guajira the concession to provide in direct management the public service of public interest sound broadcasting.
Today the radio station Uniguajira Stereo 89.3 FM "The Signal of Knowledge" is the only university radio station in the Department of La Guajira and a means of intercommunication between academia and the community, to build citizen interest and the formation of the social fabric and critical thinking that contributes to strengthening the processes of peace, harmony and respect for human rights.

To be the means of radio communication of public interest, between academia and citizens, to build citizen interest and the formation of the social fabric, to promote knowledge of the institutional actions of the University of La Guajira, for the participatory integration of the community through the creation of public opinion, knowledge of identities, and the formation of critical thinking that contributes to the strengthening of the processes.
Our Vision
The public interest radio station of the University of La Guajira, "UNIGUAJIRA ESTEREO", of Riohacha, has the goal of being the way between the citizen and the academy. To this end, it will use its human, educational, scientific, technological and economic resources. It will work with modern technology, consolidate its communication processes to design options for social transformation and strengthen the cultural identity of La Guajira. With the broadcasting of radio programs, activities will be directed to promote encounters where different points of view can be presented and respect for discrepancy is given, where diversity can be presented, where spiritual formation is enhanced, and where the culture of peace is increased and the sense of belonging is strengthened.
Our style manual, a reflection of the essence of Uniguajira Estéreo, establishes the principles that guide our identity and communication. From the University of La Guajira, in Riohacha, our station is committed to maintain a clear, ethical and respectful communication with our audience. This manual lays the foundation of our commitment to quality and diversity, promoting the expression of ideas, the promotion of local culture and the construction of an informed and participatory society. Through these guidelines, we ensure that Uniguajira Estéreo remains a beacon of light in radio broadcasting in La Guajira.
