The Integral Laboratory System (SILAB) is a functional unit that integrates or centralizes the mission activity of the University of La Guajira related to the activities of experimentation and research according to the areas of science; facilitating and allowing the institutional integration of the processes of generation, transmission and dissemination of knowledge.
The Integral Laboratory System of the University of La Guajira-SILAB, has as its quality policy to provide excellent service to meet the needs and expectations of its users, with adequate physical infrastructure, equipment necessary for the proper execution of the work and with professional and technical staff, knowledgeable of their mission and the documentation of the quality system, trained to ensure the issuance of suitable test results; committed to continuously improve the effectiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of the Quality Management System exercised in the laboratories that make up the system.
It provides services for the development of academic and research practices, and also offers specialized technical and consulting services to the community in general, based on the labor and intellectual competencies of the people who are part of it. The management is committed to exercise good professional practices and provide a quality service, always carrying out the tests according to the established standard methods and the needs of the users, complying with the norm, through the continuous and progressive implementation of its Quality Management System.

The Integral Laboratory System (SILAB) of the University of La Guajira by 2030 will be recognized as a functional unit that provides specialized technical, research and advisory services; through the correct and reliable development of laboratory processes and procedures, facilitating its use throughout all areas of the academic units of the institution that require the development of practical classes and other work related to the functions of academia, research and social projection.
