Actors in the internship and practicum process

Practitioner: A student enrolled in an academic program and who is eligible to perform academic/professional practice activities in an organizational/institutional setting.
Academic/professional practice: Theoretical-practical training activity carried out by a student of undergraduate higher education training programs, during a determined period of time, in a real work environment, with accompaniment and on subjects related to his/her area of study, in compliance with a requirement to complete his/her studies or obtain a degree that will accredit him/her for work performance.
Internship Supervisor: Person assigned by the organization/institution in the internship setting who monitors the student's compliance with the academic/professional internship. The supervision must be coordinated with the program's internship coordinator/teacher.
General
The Coordination of the Internship Center is responsible for the implementation and dissemination of this procedure to all staff of the University of La Guajira and the community in general, for their respective application and compliance. Likewise, it must permanently verify that the guidelines specified in it are complied with in correspondence with the needs arising from the established objectives.
Operating policies
- The teacher, tutor or internship coordinator per program is responsible for socializing the students with the updated database of current agreements, providing general guidelines on internships and validating the approval or not of the internships.
- The Internship Center is in charge of mapping and disseminating internal/external calls for internships, managing new inter-institutional agreements and following up on internship opportunities according to the needs of the programs.
- The teacher, tutor or internship coordinator for each program is responsible for seeking, in coordination with the Internship Center, the availability of places for the student based on the verification of current agreements and in case there are no agreements in force, the signing of the same is managed. with the organization/institution, who must submit the respective letter of intent and other documents required by Uniguajira for the signing of agreements.
- The formalization of the internship is mandatory and must be done through agreements, minutes, resolutions, contracts, memorandum of understanding or according to the modality managed or indicated by the external institution/organization for the linking of the intern.
- All practitioners, without exception, must be affiliated in the ARL as a requirement to carry out the internships as established in the TH-P-16. Procedure for student affiliation to the general labor risk system (SGRL).
- The Contracting Office is responsible for following up on the agreements and, in coordination with the Internship Center, updating their database. If there is a need to sign new agreements, the administrative process is carried out in compliance with the requirements established at the institutional level. With the exception of state or multinational institutions that do not require the signing of an agreement to formalize the development of internships.
- The Internship Center is responsible for mediating the formalization of agreements before the Contracting Office. All agreements will have a supervisor at the institutional level, who will be appointed by the academic faculties or administrative area, as the case may be.

- The Internship Center is responsible for articulating with University Social Welfare for the development of orientation talks or psychosocial and professional preparation and fulfillment of duties as a student prior to the beginning of the internship in the assigned organization/institution through the extracurricular course called Professional Orientation.
- The Teachers, Tutors and Internship Coordinators of each academic program will be responsible for receiving and safeguarding all supporting documents for the registration, planning, follow-up and evaluation of the academic internships.
