1. Mirror class
What are the recommended activities for a mirror class?
Through the mirror classes you will be able to develop the following activities:
- Virtual conferences between academics and experts.
- Formal classes.
- Joint research projects.
- Simulations, debates, panels and forums.
- Exchange of academic, scientific and cultural best practices.
- Analysis and interpretation of national and international reports, cases and issues from different perspectives.
How long does a mirror class last?
Each of the sessions should have a minimum duration of two hours, with the exception of formal classes. It is recommended that each class be composed of the master session in charge of the teachers leading the activity and a 15-20 minute space for its development.
How to apply to a mirror class?
First, you must have contact with a teacher, either nationally or internationally, and have their respective data. Second, exchange course plans among the teachers of the participating HEIs and finally, define the general activities to be developed in the mirror class.

How to report the mirror class in the CvLAC?
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to report a mirror class in the CvLAC.
- To access the Minciencias page, visit the web address: >>Minciencias<< Una vez allí, completa tus datos de registro en la plataforma y haz clic en el botón “Enter” para continuar.
- Short Term CourseOnce you are on the platform, click on the following link training activities, then in short-term course and then choose the option create a short course taught by.
- Then, in the option create course, you must enter the data requested there and click on the button guard.
2. Mobility registration and evaluation
How to apply and evaluate an online mobility?
- Ask the Dean or Head of Unit for authorization to carry out the mobility.
- The dean or head of unit must provide the requesting user with a letter of authorization and it must be addressed to the ORI management.
- You must apply online and then upload the attachments according to the type of mobility.
- Send to the ORI email movilidad.ori@staging6.uniguajira.edu.co the completed and signed mobility application and then must receive the application with the approval of the ORI.
- The applicant must send the mobility application approved by the ORI to his/her faculty and then they proceed to send it to the relevant research center and continue with the support.
- Once the mobility is finished, enter the PLATINUN platform to upload the evaluation annexes online.

3. Foreigners' engagement
What are the attachments needed to register an incoming international mobility with or without attachment?
- Copy of the Passport Biographical Sheet.
- Copy of visa (For non-restricted nationalities).
- Copy of the immigration stamp of entry to Colombia (If the activity is virtual, this step is omitted).
- Copy of international medical insurance or affiliation in the Colombian health system.
- Resume/curriculum vitae summary (Only applies to teachers for employment purposes).
- If the mobility was carried out with resources from the University of La Guajira, an administrative act or resolution must be attached.
What are the requirements for foreign applicants and/or students?
- Foreign applicants who wish to study technical, technological, undergraduate or graduate programs at the University of La Guajira must meet the following requirements:
- Passport.
- Visa and foreigner's identification card.
- Apostilled or legalized school transcripts.
- Title authenticated before a notary in your country of origin.
- Submit results of the Saber 11 State Tests (ICFES).
- In the case of foreign students who wish to carry out academic or scientific activities of short duration such as internships, exchanges, papers, they must have the following supports:
- Invitation letter issued by Uniguajira to the foreign student.
- Permission to stay according to the activity (PIP 2: Academic exchanges and/or research internships or PIP6: Guests in academic and cultural activities).
- Certificate of participation in Uniguajira activities (if applicable).
- For students who develop activities with financial support from the University of La Guajira, they must attach a resolution or administrative act.
4. National and international mobility
What should I consider when applying for a National Exchange?
If you are interested in applying for a national exchange, please follow the steps below:
- Verify the courses to be taken during the semester.
- Review the available curriculum of the university of your interest, in order to identify possible courses to take and report your interest to the International Relations Office - ORI.
- The student must be enrolled in Uniguajira for the semester of the exchange.
- Once the student is accepted, he/she must commit to register and evaluate the mobility in the PLATINUN platform.
To whom do I send my application papers for a national or international mobility?
It is important to keep in mind that the submission of the application documents will depend on the particularities of each call for applications. In some cases it is the International Relations Office that receives the documents directly and in other cases, it is the departments that apply for the opportunities that are responsible for sending the required documentation to the sponsor.
How far in advance should I apply for mobility?
It is important to note that if you are requesting financial resources from the University of La Guajira, you must initiate the process 15 days in advance and in the case that the resources for mobility are your own, you can do it with 5 working days.
What are the application requirements for an academic exchange?
Learn about the minimum requirements to apply for an academic exchange through the International Relations Office:
- Minimum 4th academic semester of study.
- Have a cumulative grade point average equal to or higher than 3.8 at the time of application. In the case of the School of Basic Sciences and Engineering, a GPA equal to or higher than 3.5 will be required.
- No disciplinary sanctions.
- To have the economic resources for personal maintenance.
What are the costs and recommendations for an academic exchange semester?
If you wish to apply for an exchange you must take into account some costs such as the following, as:
- Transcript of grades.
- Air and/or land tickets.
- Lodging and meals.
Recommendations: Es importante que al finalizar tu intercambio debes solicitar el Certificado de Notas para realizar el proceso de homologación de asignaturas en la University of La Guajira.
