Presentation of the Language Center

The Language Center of the University of La Guajira is a unit dedicated to the strengthening of foreign and native languages.

Our main objective is to promote the acquisition of high quality language skills that will allow our university and external community to successfully develop in an increasingly globalized world, so we offer a variety of courses designed to improve communication in different languages, including English, French, Arabic, Wayuunaiki, Spanish, among others.

We have a team of highly qualified teachers and modern pedagogical resources that facilitate the learning process. In addition, we promote constant practice, through events, conversation groups, analysis and construction of texts, among other strategies, for the development of all language skills.

At the Language Center of the University of La Guajira, we believe in the importance of mastering different languages as a fundamental tool for academic and professional success, so we are committed to providing society with the necessary linguistic tools to achieve their goals and contribute to the development of a more interconnected and multicultural society. Our Mission

The mission of the Language Center of the University of La Guajira is to achieve academic excellence through the strengthening of the university community and its environment in the field of foreign and native languages, thus projecting itself to the regional, national and international community.

Our Vision

The Language Center of the University of La Guajira will remain a leader in the teaching and learning of foreign and native languages, standing out in the generation of academic and scientific knowledge in the linguistic-cultural field, contributing to the educational enrichment of our university and external society.

We will be a benchmark in the offer of national and international certifications of competencies in different languages, and we will promote the continuous training of our university bodies and the interaction with external entities, for the realization of academic and cultural events..

Likewise, we will have an adequate administrative structure, with technological and didactic materials, allowing students to learn in interactive and participative environments, conducive to motivate them to learn languages.

    Language Center Uniguajira

    The Language Center of the University of La Guajira offers the development of communicative competencies in foreign languages and cultures to the university and the community in general.

To offer the university and external community the tools to acquire a broad knowledge of different languages as a means of communication and approach to different cultures, as well as to develop scientific and technological products related to the use and preservation of ethno-linguistic identity and its importance in the relationship with national and international societies, which are factors that affect the academic and professional development of the human being.

Goals

  • Provide quality training to our university and external community in the field of foreign languages (prioritizing English) and native languages (prioritizing Wayuunaiki).
  • Promote intellectual production in a foreign language by fostering research through research seedlings (Growing up in Research).
  • Promote training in the field of pedagogy and didactics of teaching different languages to qualify teachers in the region.
  • Generate motivation towards language learning through communication processes and quality interaction among university members.
  • Support exchange programs between the students of the Language Center and international educational entities in English-speaking countries.
  • Advise and direct the service of translations of academic texts and audios for all the university and external community that request the service.
  • Promote the development of training programs and/or projects in the field of pedagogy and didactics of language teaching for the qualification of teachers in the region.
  • Advise the academic programs in the revision of the curricula and programmatic contents of the English subject or any other subject that is in any foreign language.
  • Organize fairs and events for the promotion of native and foreign languages, aimed at all levels.
  • Promote and support in the application process of calls for applications abroad, to all the university's departments, where knowledge in other languages is required.
