The Socioeconomic Promotion area is responsible for providing support to the low-income and vulnerable student population (displaced, indigenous, Afro-Colombian and disabled) by proposing comprehensive social promotion policies and programs to reduce the risk of university dropouts due to economic, social and family factors. In this way, strategies are established to allow students access to the different economic benefits offered by the university through this area.

Under the construction of the social fabric and the exercise of social responsibility of the university community, we work on the inclusion and innovation of programs that meet the needs of all our strata.

Food subsidy
Description of the project:
A program that contributes to the improvement of the nutritional conditions of our students, allowing students who do not have sufficient resources to have access to a healthy lunch, so that they can remain in the institution complying with the academic schedules demanded by their study plan without having to worry about food expenses.
Student Assistant
Description of the project:
The University of La Guajira hires undergraduate students as assistants for the development of administrative and process support tasks in the academic and administrative areas of the institution.
Young Income
Description of the project:
Young Income is the opportunity offered by the National Government through the Department of Social Prosperity and in agreement with the Universidad de La Guajira, for the students of our Fonseca, Maicao, Villanueva and Riohacha branches to receive a bimonthly economic incentive of $400,000 during their professional training process to support their living and maintenance expenses.
Socioeconomic Discount
Description of the project:
Discounts on tuition fees are granted to students who are part of the different sports and cultural disciplines, research groups, in vulnerable conditions (displaced, indigenous, Afro-Colombian and disabled), all of which are contemplated in Departmental Ordinance 214 of 2007/232 of 2008.
