University Teachers' Union Association
The union organization called "ASPU", UNIVERSITY TEACHERS' TRADE UNION ASSOCIATION, is a first degree union organization, which is integrated by the professors of Colombian Higher Education Institutions, whatever the activity they perform such as teaching, research, social projection or academic administration, and operates in accordance with the National Constitution, the Conventions of the International Labor Organization ratified by our country, by the Substantive Labor Code, and other national and international regulations in force on the matter.

We are a non-profit union organization, we defend and promote the interests of our members, who have affinity and embrace our philosophy of struggle and postulates to safeguard and promote a quality public education where our members enjoy their full rights in equality and respect for all.
Our Vision
To be a leader in the promotion, dissemination and consolidation of union rights at the higher education level in order to promote a culture of equality through ongoing training in union and social issues that reflect the global aspirations of the organization and its members in a sustainable and sustainable manner.
Members of the Board of Directors
It is any responsible natural person who freely, without labor remuneration, offers time, work and talent for the construction of the common good, individually or collectively, in public or private national and international organizations or outside of them.
Functions
- To defend the rights of its members. To study the characteristics of the profession of university professors, their salaries, social benefits, fees, protection and accident prevention systems and other economic and working conditions, as well as the academic, research, extension and social conditions of its affiliates in order to seek their improvement and defense.
- Defend the State's provision of public higher education services and strengthen state institutions.
- To seek to bring all workers and employers together on the basis of dialogue, mutual respect and within the framework of respect for human rights.
- To provide legal advice to its affiliates in the defense of their rights arising from their labor relationship, collective bargaining agreement, union contract, arbitration award, and to represent them before administrative authorities, employers and third parties. It does not imply individual representation in court or before the employer.
- To represent in court or before any authority or body the common or general economic interests of the members or of the profession and to represent those same interests before employers and third parties and in the event of collective conflicts that could not be resolved by direct settlement by seeking mediation.
- To promote the union, professional, scientific and general education of its members, their social sensitivity and the development of an autonomous, democratic, inclusive, universal and free Colombian University with an excellent academic level.
- To submit petitions, rights of petition and other constitutionally and legally established requests related to working conditions or differences with employers, whatever their origin and which are not subject by law or convention to a different procedure or which have not been resolved by other means.
- To enter into collective bargaining agreements and union contracts, to ensure their compliance by members and employers and to exercise the rights and actions arising therefrom.
- To provide solidarity to its members by providing them with timely and effective assistance in case of illness, unemployment, disability or calamity.
- To serve as an intermediary for the acquisition and distribution among its members of consumer goods, raw materials and work elements at low cost.
- To carry out collective movements, permanent assemblies and other activities aimed at defending the rights of the affiliates or of the public university.
- To enter into the legal transactions required for the fulfillment of its purpose in accordance with number 10 of article 373 of the Substantive Labor Code.
- Effectively defend the rights of the members of the Union and ensure their reinstatement when they are injured in any way, due to their philosophical, political, religious or racial opinions.
