Our Mission

It is a permanent monitoring body of the variables that affect or impact labor supply and demand, which serves as an instrument for the planning, management and evaluation of public policies for social inclusion, oriented to the decision making of social, institutional and economic agents, contributing to the productivity and competitiveness of the department of La Guajira. The observatory will be an advisory body for public employment policies in the department.

Our Vision

By 2020, the Labor Market Observatory of La Guajira will be consolidated as the management, research and analysis body for the labor market in the department of La Guajira.

We are a space dedicated to analyze, research and promote the development of the labor market in the region. Our goal is to provide up-to-date and relevant information that benefits students, professionals and employers, thus fostering the personal and economic growth of our community. Objectives of the Labor Market Observatory of La Guajira
  • General Objective
    • Generate reliable, timely and relevant information for the design, implementation and development of training, employment, labor and entrepreneurship policies by social, institutional and economic actors.
  • Specific Objectives
    • Collect, process, produce and consolidate information on labor market dynamics at the regional level, related to demographic, educational, economic, social, cultural and environmental aspects.
    • Disseminate the results of labor market research projects and/or products.
    • To provide employers and workers with information on labor demand and supply, provide guidance and tools for the formulation of public policies for employment generation, relevant training, labor insertion and intermediation.
    • Articulate actions with other observatories of the ORMET Network and other social or economic organizations, and be part of regional, national or international networks of observatories.
    • Develop actions that allow social appropriation of the knowledge generated and public access to information.
    • Monitor and evaluate the management and implementation of public policies for employment generation in the department of La Guajira.
    • Build institutional technical capacity in ORMET's team of researchers and operational assistants.
    • Follow up on social and labor conflicts in the department of La Guajira and other departments when circumstances so require.
